Teacher CPD Seminar (4): AI and Human-Centred Pedagogy – Fostering Self-Directed and Deep Thinking

Default Event Background

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into teaching and learning, educators need to consider not only how to use AI tools effectively, but also how to uphold student-centred pedagogical principles in a technology-enhanced environment. This seminar explores the effective integration of human-centred pedagogy and AI, examining how AI can be leveraged to support self-directed learning, promote cognitive development, and cultivate students’ critical thinking, creativity, and inquiry skills.

Through case studies and classroom application demonstrations, participants will explore how AI can be used to design engaging and thought-provoking learning activities that enhance student participation and motivation, while avoiding over-reliance on AI that may hinder the development of deep thinking and independent learning capabilities. The seminar will also enable educators to gain insights into creating learning environments that balance technological innovation with human values, harnessing AI as a tool to enhance learning and nurture students’ self-directed learning, lifelong learning, and future-ready competencies.
