Teacher CPD Seminar (10): AI-Assisted Lesson Preparation — From Material Creation to Interactive Learning Design

Default Event Background

As generative artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly widespread, teachers can use AI to support different stages of their work, from lesson preparation and teaching material development to classroom activity design. Through practical examples, this seminar will demonstrate how teachers can provide AI with clear instructions based on learning objectives, student backgrounds and subject content to quickly generate worksheets, presentations, images, videos and other multimedia teaching materials. It will also share how systematic prompting and content refinement can be used to improve the accuracy and appropriateness of teaching materials when AI-generated content does not meet teaching requirements.

The seminar will also introduce how AI applications can be extended to student learning, including organising work created by students using AI, developing assessment criteria, and designing peer assessment activities to foster students’ critical thinking. The speaker will also share how virtual space technologies can be used to integrate teaching materials and student work into interactive learning showcases, enriching the ways in which learning outcomes are presented. Using Science and Biology as examples, the speakers will also explain how AI can be used to conceptualise and develop interactive simulation-based teaching activities that can run in a web browser.
